Back in 1985, rock and pop stars from Elton John, David Bowie and Paul McCartney to The Who and Queen came together for one huge charity concert. Live Aid raised an estimated $127 million for relief in the ongoing Ethiopian famine and has since seen other similar charity shows in the years that followed. Now May, who performed with Freddie Mercury in Queen’s most famous show ever at Live Aid, wants a similar charity gig to take on the effects of climate change and raise awareness. According to The Mirror, the 71-year-old reckons that younger musicians will have to lead the way with such an event.
May said: “It probably would take the younger generation to take that bull by the horns.
“We’d help in any way we can but I think that’s what it would require.”
Nevertheless, the Queen guitarist pointed out how the problem of climate change is “so enormous” that even a Live Aid-sized gig might not
