World War Three is an ever-present threat, yet increasingly fraught relations between the US and Iran this week have sent worries soaring. The threat comes ahead of the one year anniversary of Donald Trump pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal, and a subsequent White House statement confirming a US aircraft carrier and bomber wing would be deployed to the Persian Gulf, in a clear show of force. A spokesperson said the move was taken in response to a number of “troubling” warnings from Iran. Yet should a nuclear attack, and consequent World War Three, break out soon, what should Britons do to best protect themselves.
Website Ready.gov has offered sage advice to Britons on how to act, so they can be fully briefed.
It stated: “If warned of an imminent attack, immediately get inside the nearest building and move away from windows.
“This will help provide protection from the blast, heat, and radiation of the detonation.
“If you are outdoors when a detonation occurs take cover from the blast behind anything that might offer protection.
“Lie face down to protect exposed skin from the heat and flying debris. If you are in a vehicle, stop safely, and duck down within the vehicle.”
