Lucifer star Tom Ellis has been teasing fans in the buildup to the Netflix premiere with snippets of information about the fallout from Chloe (played by Lauren German) finding out his true devil identity.
He has previously teased the relationship might be irreparable and Chloe might be plotting against him to send him back to hell.
Now, the star has teased one event might change everything for the relationship, either in a good way or a bad way.
He told SYFY WIRE: “Lucifer, in trying to do the better thing, actually results in someone dying. He takes that very badly. So, Lucifer decides to resort to the punisher he believes he now is. He does something very bad.
“There are consequences to that towards the end of the season. The consequences might appear to be human and legal, but the celestial consequences become much greater.”

Being punished for trying to do something good could be the final nail in the coffin for the Deckerstar romance as he debates whether to be patient with Chloe or be tempted to his old ways by newcomer Eve (Inbar Lavi).
Tom also elaborates on the debate raging in Lucifer’s head in this season.
He added: “The killing of Pierce [in season three] has been haunting. It's kind of bringing something about him that maybe he is this ugly devil and this horrible thing. But, during a robbery, he has an enlightening moment where he thinks, ‘No, that's not all I am. If she ever comes back, I can prove that to her.’
