Prince Harry wore his emotions on his sleeve today as he proudly showed off his firstborn son, Archie, yet the royal is no stranger to revealing his feelings in public, as recent royal tours have shown. The Duke of Sussex, 34, alongside wife Meghan Markle, 37, gave the world a glimpse of their adorable little boy in a press conference today. Yet his strong family bond has meant he has previously been “choked up” in public, with the Queen at the crux of his emotion. In her new book, Harry: Life, Loss, and Love, author Katie Nicholl revealed the reason why - and the real difference in conduct between Harry, and older brother William, 36, when representing the crown overseas.
She wrote of the new dad’s conduct in Brazil, in 2012, and commented: “Harry had been in regular contact with William, getting his advice and keeping him up to speed on how things were going.
“He admitted, as the tour came to a close, that it had been both fun and emotional.”
She then quoted Prince Harry, who had confessed post-tour: “I personally had no idea how much warmth there was toward the Queen.
“To me, that’s been very humbling, and I was actually quite choked up, seeing the way that they are celebrating her 60 years.”
“Back at home courtiers praised the visit as a diplomatic tour de force, and when Harry went to see his grandmother she was full of praise.
