Nigel Farage TEARS into Peston over #Brexit Party funding question – 'Turning ...

Nigel Farage has refused to name one donor who contributed £100,000 to Brexit Party's European parliamentary election campaign. The Brexiteer insisted the majority of the money used to campaign ahead of the European Union election of May 23 have been donated by members of the British public, and details on additional donations will be released in due time by the Electoral Commission. But despite his response, Robert Peston repeatedly challenged Mr Farage to name the donor: "You say you want to shake up the establishment, you want to introduce a new kind of politics - why won’t you tell us, because you haven’t told us, who is funding you?"

Mr Farage hit back: "I find your question quite extraordinary. I’ve answered it once already, let’s try it again.

"Some 90,000 individuals, living in this country, in the last four weeks have paid us £25 to become registered supporters of the Brexit Party.

"You are an economist, you can do the calculations. That’s over £2 million. I’ve said we’ve received one big donation of £100,000 and I can now tell you, we’ve received several more. All of them have been reported to the electoral commission and they will tell you who they are.

"Why is it that you commentators can’t see there is something remarkable going on?"
