Emmerdale favourite Harriet Finch (played by Katherine Dow Blyton) has been the victim of a horrific stalking ordeal carried out by Dawn Taylor’s (Olivia Bromley) father Will (Dean Andrews).
Harriet was in a relationship with Will while working as an undercover police officer and was responsible for sending him to prison for 15 years.
The village vicar has only recently discovered that Will is alive and although Dawn was helping him at first, in future episodes viewers will see her stand up to Will.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Katherine hinted at a shock twist in store for Harriet and Will’s relationship.
She said: “It’s a really complicated relationship, because Harriet did spend quite a few years pretending to be Will’s partner and was in love with him – she admitted that to Dawn.
“Harriet has still got an awful lot of guilt around what happened. She feels guilty that Dawn’s life turned out like it did, because she just disappeared off the face of the earth and left Dawn on her own. Dawn then went into care.
“Maybe Harriet thinks she’s partly responsible for everything and perhaps thinks Will deserves a chance.”
In next week’s episodes Harriet will finally come face-to-face with the ex-con as he attempts to carry out the final step in his revenge plan.
