Jean Slater (played by Gillian Wright) is continuing her treatment for ovarian cancer and will fall for Daniel Cook (Adrian Edmondson) in upcoming episodes of EastEnders.
Daniel is charming and has a wicked sense of humour, which will help him to win over Jean, who is initially unsure about him to start with.
He offers his support to the stalwart in his own unique way and Jean slowly warms to him and they strike up a bond.
Actor Adrian is taking on the role of Daniel and has already started filming with his first appearance airing later this summer.
Speaking about joining EastEnders, Adrian said: ““There were only fifteen boys on my drama course at Manchester Uni, and I’ll be the third to appear in EastEnders - so I feel it’s a kind of tradition!
“The other two being Tom Watt (Lofty Holloway) and Paul Bradley (Nigel Bates).”
Meanwhile Executive Producer Jon Sen added: “Adrian’s a phenomenal talent who will bring his unique blend of intelligence, warmth and humour to the role of Daniel.
