Every child in London is subjected to dangerous levels of PM2.5

The youngest pupils are most in danger from fine particulate matter, known as PM2.5, because their lungs are still developing, meaning “damage in early age can be irreversible”.  About 6,500 British schools are located in areas that exceed the World Health Organisation’s recommended limit for PM2.5 of 10 microgrammes per cubic metre, the study found. This includes 3,900 nursery and primary schools.

Every child in London is subjected to dangerous levels of PM2.5, according to test results published in the London Atmospheric Emissions Inventory. 

Its findings suggest 234 schools in Birmingham and more than 100 in Leicester and Nottingham each have the same dangerous levels.
