According to reports, a movie theatre in Montreal was due to play the new Pokemon film - but left its customers upset when a mistake led to The Curse of La Llorona being played.
The film follows a ghost who torments a social worker, and its first scene sees a mother drowning her child.
The incident allegedly took place at the Guzzo Marché Central, according to Screen Rant’s Ryan George - who happened to be in the room.
He tweeted: “This was such a massive mistake and so entertaining to watch unfold.”
Suspicions were first aroused when a trailer for horror flick Annabelle Comes Home played.
“Andddd kids are crying,” George tweeted.
The Cinemas Guzzo chain does not appear to have remarked on the incident on social media, at time of writing.
