Warning: Serious spoilers for Game of Thrones season 8 below

Game of Thrones season eight, episode five, The Bells, was an episode of death and firey devastation - as Daenerys seemed to echo her father and fall into madness with her unrestrained destruction of King's Landing.

The beginning of the episode marked a downward spiral for Daenerys Targaryen, who locked herself away after the death of Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel).

Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) tells Jon Snow (Kit Harington): “She hasn’t seen anyone since we returned. Hasn’t left her chambers, hasn’t accepted any food.”

She later demands the attack on King’s Landing take place immediately, ignoring Tyrion Lannister’s (Peter Dinklage) pleas to hold back.

Tyrion tells Daenerys to call off her armies should the bells in King’s Landing toll, as this represents their surrender.

However, after Daenerys depletes the Golden Company soldiers with dragon fire, and the bells ring out for surrender, the mother of dragons seems to crack and she destroys almost the entirety of the capital.

The cries of innocent women and children do nothing to sway her, and her army of Dothraki and Unsullied continue to kill the capital’s residents.

But did Robert Baratheon predict this back in season one?
