The Prime Minister announced on Tuesday night there would be a fourth vote on her Brexit deal in the first week of June. Following that announcement of yet another vote on her Brexit deal, the Deputy Chair of the European Research Group (ERG), Steve Baker has questioned why the Government had made the decision. Downing Street had announced that it was “imperative” to bring forward another vote if the UK has any chance of leading the EU before the summer recess.

Criticising the announcement, the ERG supremo said: “What is Government thinking?

“If the Brexit Party were demanding we pass this withdrawal agreement, a vote might just make sense.

“But they aren’t. Quite the reverse.

“And driving it through over the heads of the DUP appears to eradicate the Government’s majority.”

The announcement follows as talks between Labour and the Tories have once again failed to reach a compromise on Brexit.

Talks will continue between the two opposition parties but it unsure if they will come to an agreement.

Moreover, it is thought that if Mrs May does not have the support of the Labour Party, her deal will once again be defeated.
