#BigBangTheory creator teases season 12 finale and the inspiration behind it

Fans of the Big Bang Theory are already bracing themselves for the final time they will see the stars of the CBS show and worried about what will happen to them.

According to co-creator Chuck Lorre, fans can expect the series finale to more tear-jerking than explosive.

He spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about how the show will end and how to “land the plane safely.”

Chuck said: "It meant a lot — to be there from our very clumsy beginnings, to when we actually figured out how to do it and sustain it, to ending with what I think is a wonderful [episode].

"I didn't have a clue how to [end the series]. Steve Holland – who's been the showrunner for the last two years – suggested that rather than bringing the show to a hard stop – where everybody packs their bags and goes in different directions and the show is exploded in some final way – that we have an emotional finale.

"I thought that was brilliant."

So instead of a big bang, fans are going to get lots and lots of tears.

He also goes on to explain why he decided to bring the show to an end after Sheldon Cooper star Jim Parsons said he did not want to carry on.

He added: “He wanted to move on. And I long ago decided that I didn't want to do a series if any of the principal players were not in it. I didn't want to explain away the absence of a major character. I didn't want to do Archie's Place. You don't just pull it apart and put it back together again and expect the same results.
