Lady Gabriella Windsor is the latest member of the Royal Family to get married at St George’s Chapel Windsor, as she follows in the footsteps of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, as she ties the knot this weekend. Lady Gabriella is the daughter of the Queen’s cousin, however she shares a link with the Duchess of Cambridge, who only entered into royal life when she began her relationship with Prince William in 2001. Heartbreakingly, however, their shared history will not have happy memories for Kate.
Kate’s first secondary school was Downe House, a private girls’ boarding school in Berkshire but she was so terribly bullied there that she quit the school after only two terms.
Lady Gabriella Windsor, who is a year older than the Duchess, also attended the school which educates girls from the age of 11 to 18.
Writing in his 2011 book 'William and Catherine, royal author Andrew Morton recalled a friend and fellow pupil telling him: “Kate was not the most confident girl and it was always going to be tricky for her even though she was good at sports.
“Downe House is a great school but it is a fighting school.
"She was bullied.”
