Lady Diana Spencer and the Prince of Wales were wed on Wednesday, July 29, 1981. Their marriage was billed around the world as a true “fairytale wedding” and the “wedding of the century”. But for Diana her idyllic wedding dream would soon become a nightmare.
As the entire world watched on, an estimated global audience of 750 million people were in awe of the 19-year-old virgin Diana.
The late Princess’ brother Charles Edward Spencer later divulged his sister had been “incredibly dignified” throughout the lavish affair.
And now a Netflix documentary, The Story of Diana, has revealed what was really going through the young bride’s head as she walked up the aisle to greet her prince.
According to the film, in a heartbreaking confession, Diana said: “As I walked up the aisle I was looking for her.”
