DEATH IN PARADISE season nine is still months away but it looks like romance is on the horizon for DI Jack Mooney when the BBC series returns.

Filming for the ninth series of Death in Paradise in underway in Guadeloupe with Ardal O’Hanlon returning as DI Jack Mooney.

The detective will be back solving murders across the island of Saint Marie and it looks like he could be set for a new romance.

First details of the new series have revealed DI Jack will be shocked when he receives a surprise kiss.

A teaser reads: “Series nine will see the Honoré Police team get to know their new DS, Madeleine, while a surprise kiss catches Jack off guard…”

DI Jack will return alongside Office JP Hooper (Tobi Bakare), Officer Ruby Patterson (Shyko Amos) and Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington).

Catherine Bordey (Elizabeth Bourgine) will also be back with newcomer DS Madeleine Dumas (Aude Legastelois)

Speaking about the new series, executive producer Tim Key, said: “We’re thrilled to be back in Guadeloupe with our fantastic cast and crew getting to work on more ingenious murder mysteries in the Caribbean sun.

“We can’t wait for the audience to see what we’ve got in store for series nine – there are some big surprises coming.”

Following the success of the eighth series earlier this year, it was confirmed the BBC show would return in 2020.
