Emmerdale viewers have been watching Jacob Gallagher (played by Joe-Warren Plant) on-screen ever since he was a child and now he finds himself at the heart of one of the ITV soap’s most controversial storylines. After being groomed by Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein), Jacob’s father David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) and ‘aunt’ Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) have been doing their utmost to expose her. However, Emmerdale fans know Leyla is actually Jacob’s mum due to their complex family history.
Leyla Harding is Jacob Gallagher’s biological mother after giving birth to him in 2003.
Emmerdale viewers, however, have seen Jacob grow up believing Leyla’s sister Alicia Harding (Natalie Anderson) was his mother.
Alicia adopted Jacob from her sister shortly after his birth.
Jacob discovered the truth about his real mother back in 2013 and struggled to deal with the news.
However, Jacob eventually accepted Leyla into his life but still acknowledged Alicia as his mum.
The ITV soap character went through a similar process with his ‘father’ David Metcalfe.
