Cruise ship Carnival Paradise came to the rescue of a sinking sailor over the weekend. The floating hotel answered the distress call of the Mexican national and came to his aid. Carnival Paradise lowered a lifeboat to retrieve the man, who was picked up 13 miles north of Cozumel, Mexico, from whence the cruise ship had just departed. The unfortunate sailor was provided with food and drink and medical assistance following the rescue, although he was said not to be hurt.

He was then transferred by a ferry boat to shore after Carnival liaised with Mexican authorities.
Carnival released a statement on Monday, stating: “Continuing a longstanding tradition of assisting mariners in distress, Carnival Paradise came to the aid of the operator of a small boat that was sinking.
“While en route back to its homeport of Tampa, Carnival Paradise was alerted of a small craft in distress with one person in the water while the ship was 13 miles north of Cozumel.
“Carnival Paradise reversed course, lowered a rescue boat, brought the mariner onboard and provided food, water and medical treatment.
