Today the worst of the rain will be over Scotland, northwest England and northern Wales. On Friday this will head south, with showers expected over Wales and southern England, along with scattered outbreaks in Northern Ireland and the Scottish highlands. However Friday will also be a warm day for much of the country, with temperatures reaching 21 to 22 degrees Celsius according to the Met Office.
Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: “The damp weather of recent days in the far north is still there.
“Outbreaks of rain for Caithness and Northern Isles making it feel fairly unpleasant once again as we start off Thursday.
“A slither of cloud for Northern Ireland into northwest England as well, a few showers possible”.
The day will start largely dry further south, though there will be some thick cloud over Northern Ireland, northwest England and parts of Wales.
