Peter Barlow (played by Chris Gascoyne) has been looking after Carla Connor (Alison King) as she battles with her mental health after blaming herself for the Underworld factory roof collapse.
Coronation Street fans have watched Peter put his own struggles aside to help Carla and the former couple have been growing closer as Carla does her best to recover.
Alison, who plays the cobbles resident, has hinted at a happy ending for the pair after their past ups and downs.
Talking to The Mirror about how Peter has supported her character, she confessed: “It is really important, he has shown her that he will do anything for her still and she can trust him.
“He has literally saved her through his perseverance and believing that Carla is still in there and the belief she can come back, that is worth fighting for so I think they will become more solid than they have ever been.”
Carla suffered a mental breakdown after the factory roof collapse and fled the Street in the aftermath when she was unable to cope.
Despite the collapse being caused by someone tampering with the roof, Carla blamed herself because she knew the roof was damaged.
