According to documentary ‘Prince William at Thirty’, uploaded to YouTube in June 2012, it was in March 2002 when Kate was asked to model in the Don’t Walk charity fashion show. Kate donned a stunning see-through dress with sexy black underwear underneath. According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, William’s eyes “popped out” and he suddenly saw Kate in a new light.
Ms Nicholl said: “When Kate came out dressed in this amazing see-through dress and her lingerie, William just – I mean, his eyes popped and he turned to his friend and he said ‘Wow, Kate’s hot!’”
Jules Knight, a university friend of William’s, compared Kate’s performance in the show to a caterpillar turning into a butterfly in his friend’s eyes.
He said: “She was on the catwalk and looked amazing and suddenly this sort of butterfly emerged from the chrysalis.”
According to the documentary, it was after this that “romance blossomed” between the future Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
