Tory MP and Conservative leadership candidate Esther McVey snapped at BBC's Victoria Derbyshire after the host suggested she couldn’t imagine Esther McVey negotiating with Donald Trump in a post-Brexit scenario. The Leave supporter insisted she would not only do the job well but noted that she was particularly good at forming a team that would be the “best.” The BBC host began by saying: “I can’t imagine you in a room with Donald Trump as Britain’s Prime Minister negotiating a free-trade deal in a post-Brexit world, is that unfair?”
Mrs McVey snapped back: “Why would you say that?”
The BBC presenter replied: “Why could you? Why could you negotiate with him?”
The Tory MP began to laugh before sternly replying: “Hang on a second, you have just come out with a very bold statement not knowing me at all, so why would you say that?”
