The morning is expected to see most of the sunshine. Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: “Tuesday morning for some places will be the best time of the day. A bright start in the North and the East, rain though is moving in from the West and that wet weather extending wildly by the end of Tuesday”.
By 7am, the sunshine will be present in the North and East Scotland but the West and Northern Ireland are expected to see the beginning of rainfall.
The rain will extend into West Wales and the Southwest of England but Mr McGiven added “further East we cling onto some sunshine at least for the first few hours of the day”.
He said: “Heavy showers or longer spells of rain effectively covering the whole of the country by the end of the afternoon.”
Mr McGivern noted “it’s going to feel quite chilly” during this part of the day".
