Fans of the long-running ITV soap were thrilled when Sophie (played by Brooke Vincent) and Paula reunited recently but it looks as though the pair may not last long.
Coronation Street star Brooke is currently expecting her first child and will no doubt be taking time off for maternity leave will lead to a temporary exit for Sophie.
And, if Sophie leaves Weatherfield, could she leave girlfriend Paula behind?
It certainly looks that way as Stirling confirmed that her character will be hanging around on the cobbles a lot longer.
She told Metro.co.uk: “As far as I know I’m here long term but obviously there are many outs at every turn.”
When asked how Sophie and Paula will fair when actress Brooke goes on maternity leave, the star remained vague.
“Well, I’m not sure what is on the horizon but I’m sure Sophie will have to not be around for a while a little bit but how they will deal with that?” Stirling continued.
“I suspect there will be some interesting twist.”
She added fans will see Paula “getting involved in some legal cases” in the future so it seems she could
