Dot Cottan star spills ‘dying declaration’ #LineOfDuty secret

LINE OF DUTY fans were gripped by season five as they tried to work out the identity of H. The series finale featured the return of Dot Cottan, who was killed at the end of season three.

Line of Duty’s Dot (played by Craig Parkinson) was killed when he took a number of bullets to the chest to protect DS Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure).

As he lay dying, he recorded a dying declaration which led to Chief Superintendent Patrick Fairbank (George Costigan) being jailed for 10 years.

In the series five finale, DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) looked at the footage in close detail to look at his twitching left hand.

The moment revealed to fans of the BBC show Dot had been sending AC-12 a message in Morse Code by tapping his fingers against his palm.

Now actor Craig has opened up on his character’s dying declaration, revealing he was called back to the show to re-shoot it.

He explained to Radio Times: “No, I didn’t go back and fix it.

“Because what I did is, I went back to re-film it in series four, so then they had stuff that they could use for series five,”
