Cruise ship holidays see passengers looked after by a great number of staff throughout the trip. Cruise crew are generally polite and helpful and can even strike up an amicable rapport with guests. However, Royal Caribbean cruise line warns passengers that they need to be careful when interacting with crew. It’s important that they don’t mistake “friendliness” for something more romantic - as this is not allowed on board.

Royal Caribbean explain in their Guest Conduct Policy that relationships between crew and guests are prohibited.
“Our crew members are friendly, outgoing and helpful, and they will do their very best to make your vacation as enjoyable as possible,” explains the policy online. “Please do not misinterpret their friendliness.
“Crew members are prohibited from engaging in physical relationships with guests.”
Cruise staff have strict rules they need to abide by and could lose their jobs if found in a compromising situation.
“Crew members are not permitted to socialise with guests beyond their professional duties, and are not permitted to be in guest staterooms, except for the performance of their shipboard duties,” said Royal Caribbean.
