#GameOfThrones fans may have figured out why Jon Snow was resurrected back in ...

Game of Thrones came to an end earlier this year, giving fans an enthralling and intricate ending.

Although a number of people were not entirely happy with what happened, many were satisfied with the ending of Beric Dondarrion’s (played by Richard Dormer) journey.

Beric was famously killed a number of times throughout the show, before being brought back to life by Thoros of Myr (Paul Kaye).

In episode three of the eighth season Beric protected Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) from a number of wights which went on to kill him - but allowed her to finally end the Night King’s (Vladimir Furdik) reign of terror.

As Beric’s countless resurrections were eventually shown to have a purpose, fans of the show have been wondering why Jon Snow (Kit Harington) was brought back to life in season six.

The Red Priestess Melisandre (Carice Van Houten) is the only other follower of the Lord of Light who has any power over his abilities, and resurrected Jon after the members of the Night’s Watch killed him.

But, unless the Lord of Light had any desire to kill off Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), it would seem Jon’s return from the dead was a little pointless.

However some fans on the Game of Thrones subreddit have been theorising the meaning of Jon’s return, with one fan, Farimer123, claiming: “So Melisandre performed all the sacred rites, washed Jon’s body, cut his hair and arranged it, did everything perfectly… and it apparently didn’t work. Everyone left the room dejected.

“With Beric it happened immediately, and he still had the friggen gash in his armour for crying out loud!”
