UK weather forecast: Met Office issues weather warning ahead of deluge (Image: WXCharts/GETTY) Despite it being the beginning of June, many across the country have been faced with wintry conditions and on Monday that cold and wet weather will continue. Unfortunately for many across the south east and large parts of the Midlands, the Met Office has warned of torrential rain throughout the day with chances of flooding. Such is the deluge of rain across the country that Met Office Meteorologist Alex Burkill has warned that some areas could see as much as 60mm of rainfall. Mr Burkill added: “We've got heavy rain pushing into the southeast and showers elsewhere developing as we go through the day. “There will be heavy and persistent rain that's pushed in from the southeast and this rain is going to last for much of the day.” Following the trend of unusual weather for this time of year, Mr Burkill also warned that some areas in the north and Scotland could see temperatures hovering around 6C. Such is the drop in temperature, that some area could even see a “touch of frost” to start the Monday morning commute. As it transitions westward, Mr Burkill did warn of the chance of “rumblings of thunder” in Wales.
