Mike Pompeo, Donald Trump’s top official, has been caught on tape telling American Jewish leaders that he would “push back” against the party’s leadership, as the stakes are “too risky and too important”. The comments come after continued allegations of anti-Semitism in the Labour party, and the US diplomat has suggested he would seek to intervene to prevent Jeremy Corbyn from getting the UK’s top job. A recording of the meeting was leaked to The Washington Post, where it emerged Mr Pompeo said: “It could be that Mr Corbyn manages to run the gauntlet and get elected.
