Pro-Remain party Change UK has recently lost six of their 11 MPs with party leader Heidi Allen, Luciana Berger, Gavin Shuker, Angela Smith, Chuka Umunna and Sarah Wollaston all resigning from the party.

Mr Davey confirmed discussions with the MPs had taken place but added it was vital to “give them time to come to their own decision”.

He went further to explain that he would seek to introduce legislation to change the legal default of the UK failing to secure a deal from going forward with no deal to revoking Article 50.

If this failed, he would then support a vote of no confidence in the Tory Government with a view to form a government of national unity and stage a second referendum.
