Brexit is not the only deal causing trepidation among Brussels ranks, according to EU expert Eric Bonse. The German journalist has warned the EU’s fate is “hanging by a thread”, and is hinging on the success of three crucial deals. He said: “If only one deal bursts, the EU will fall into a deep crisis.”

Earlier this week Tory leadership frontrunner Boris Johnson threatened to withhold the £39billion EU divorce bill if Brussels failed to improve their Brexit terms.

The exit contract with the UK is proving to be the most tricky deal for the EU, despite it’s overwhelming importance.

In his new e-book ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’, Mr Bonse said the threat of the UK not passing a Brexit deal in Parliament by the October 31 deadline is a “horror vision”.

He said: “For Brussels, this is a horror vision - because a no deal would not only destroy the years of negotiations with London, but also massively destroy confidence.

“Only the fear of the no deal keeps everyone together.”

But the Brexit deal isn’t the only concern for EU chiefs, according to Mr Bonse, who said two other EU
