Love Island 2019 has welcomed over a dozen new islanders through the ITV2 villa doors this year. While viewers have tuned in in their millions to watch the drama between the likes of Tommy Fury and Sherif Lanre unfold, some have suggested the ITV2 series could all be a set-up. However, ITV has confirmed to Express.co.uk that this is not the case.

No, Love Island is not scripted or set up according to a spokesperson for ITV.

Love Island fans recently speculated the show could be fixed after rumours that Tommy and new arrival Maura Higgins knew each other before emerged.

ITV confirmed, however: “Maura and Tommy hadn’t met prior to being in the villa.”

ITV2 viewers also accused the show of being fixed over Sherif’s exit.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “So Sherif is evicted… it’s national news… yet no one in the villa is talking about it? Feels like a bit of a fix to me.”

However, ITV debunked the fan theory with that statement: “No the show isn’t fixed.”
