The Met Police appealed for help from the public to stem the bloodshed

A man aged in his 30s became London's latest murder victim after he was pronounced dead from stab wounds at 2.37pm yesterday in Tower Hamlets, east London. There have been no arrests. It came after two teenagers died in separate London attacks just minutes apart, while there were a series of stabbings across the country. Murder probes were launched in Glasgow and Cardiff. The Met Police yesterday appealed for help from the public to stem the bloodshed.

I am sickened to hear that two young lives have been ended within minutes of each other

London Mayor Sadiq Khan

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said: "I am sickened to hear that two young lives have been ended within minutes of each other.

"Our overstretched police are working around the clock to keep Londoners safe and tackle this scourge of serious violence in our city."

But last night President Trump waded in, retweeting a post by right-wing commentator Katie Hopkins, adding: "LONDON needs a new mayor ASAP. Khan is a disaster - will only get worse!" The killings began on Friday afternoon. A man, 18, was found by police in a road in Wandsworth, south London, following reports of a stabbing at 4.40pm.

He was in a critical condition and died shortly after. Six males, aged between 16 and 19, were arrested.

Supt Richard Smith said: "I would urge those who witnessed the incident, but who have yet to speak with officers, to please come forward and provide us with any information that you can."

Less than 15 minutes after the murder, there were reports of a shooting at a car park less than 10 miles away in Plumstead. Police found another man, 19, in a critical condition. The London Ambulance and the London Air Ambulance attended, but the teenager died at the scene a short while later.

Three men and a woman were later arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to separate south London police stations. Police are so far not linking any of the attacks. At about 6.40pm, a female PC, 24, had her head repeatedly struck against a wall in Streatham, less than two miles from the scene of the stabbing, as she detained a 15-year-old boy. A Met spokesman said: "The officer was taken to hospital. She suffered cuts and bruises to her face, knees and arms and potential whiplash injuries, but is otherwise not seriously injured." Two teenagers were arrested.

Then, at 3.20am yesterday police were called to Clapham, south London, following reports of a fight
