The cast of Stranger Things return and it’s summer, but that will not stop the already dark series getting even darker. It appears Chief Jim Hopper (played by David Harbour) will have his work cut out in the town as numerous strange goings-on occur. The Netflix series has been a global success since its breakthrough season and attention will naturally turn to a spinoff like has happened with other highly-successful series like The Big Bang Theory and The Walking Dead. Now, Stranger Things novel writer Adam Christopher has revealed his latest book Darkness At The Edge Of Town has been created with TV adaptation in mind. Stranger Things season 3: Eleven and Mike stars spill on romance When I was writing it, I did have in mind the episodic structure Adam Christopher In an interview with Metro.co.uk, he revealed Jim Hopper’s past in New York will be explored and give a whole new dimension to the character. He said: "The book begins in New York and includes the blackout. When I was writing it, I did have in mind the episodic structure. “So you can imagine if they did the eight episodes like in Stranger Things, the blackout would be the key moment of episode seven and eight. “So that pacing and structure of the story would lend itself to an adaptation. Also, for fans because they have to have that ‘Stranger Things feel’, it does feel like you’re watching a book.” It appears they are trying to capitalise on the show’s success as much as they can while it is one of Netflix’s flagship series. In a previous interview he also revealed: “We get glimpses of his past in the TV show, because obviously he’s a Vietnam veteran. Stranger Things season 3: Will fans see more of Jim? This is the first chance we’ve really had to look at his family life before everything changed. “Hopper’s life is pretty much in two halves, before Vietnam and after Vietnam, which was a huge part of his life. When Sara died, that became ancient history. It became something lost in time. “This is the first time we’ve seen before Sara’s death.” Meanwhile, Mike Wheeler star Finn Wolfhard has revealed what will make season three the best so far. With the show being such a big success, it appears the bosses have decided to take the best aspects from the previous two seasons to make a new mega-season.
