It was a hot topic today as hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid discussed Love Island throughout the programme following on from the news that 486 fans had complained to Ofcom about Maura Higgins attempting to kiss Tommy Fury.

In the scenes which aired on Friday night, Maura could be seen climbing on top of Tommy and going in for a kiss on the lips, which he declined as he turned his head and she planted one on his cheek.

The moment caused outrage among some viewers, who believed Maura was “forcing herself” on Tommy.

On Good Morning Britain, Piers commented on the situation and the outrage it had garnered as the programme played the clip.

Piers said at the beginning of the show: “What part of no means no did Tommy not communicate there?

“It’s clear, premeditated assault, isn’t it? She has to be dragged out of there and arrested. I mean, this is the new rule right?”

“Look at this, poor Tommy, he looks utterly traumatised,” he jested as the clip showed Tommy smiling.

Susanna also chimed in to give her view on the situation, saying it would have been different if the roles were reversed.

“If a man had done the same thing to a woman, it wouldn’t have been acceptable,” she declared.
