In Game of Thrones season eight, Samwell Tarly (played by John Bradley) revealed to best friend Jon (Kit Harington) he was actually of Targaryen blood and was the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.
This news rocked both his world and that of lover and newly-discovered aunt Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) as her whole existence had been geared to reclaiming the Iron Throne as the perceived rightful heir in the HBO series.
It made Daenerys become highly suspicious of Jon and even killed her trusted advisor Varys (Conleth Hill) because she feared he would expose Jon as the rightful heir.
By the time she had set off for King’s Landing to wrestle the throne from Cersei Lannister, all of the Starks had discovered Jon’s true parentage.
Daenerys claimed King’s Landing on her Mad Queen descent and Jon saw her for the first time as the terrifying killer she is.
Then, in the series finale he killed her to stop her causing any more destruction and Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) became the elected King of Westeros.
Jon was subsequently banished back to the Night’s Watch after Daenerys’s loyal followers the Unsullied and Dothraki threatened to kill him.
Throughout season eight, Jon admitted he didn’t want to take the throne from Daenerys and repeatedly lamented his new-found status.
Now, one eagle-eyed fan has provided evidence from the way back in the first book in the series to prove Jon was never destined to take the throne and
