In yesterday’s ballot, the former London Mayor secured 126 votes and many believe he is now unstoppable.
The Uxbridge MP’s political life has without a doubt been unconventional, as he found fame as a TV personality before he had achieved anything in politics.
For this reason, the public allowed him to get away with the kind of gaffes that would have sank the careers of others.
His eight years as London Mayor proved he could knuckle down to a serious job, though.
During his time in City Hall, Mr Johnson accepted one in particular, which sparked a lot of media attention as it came from the future Queen's sister, Pippa Middleton.
