Irene Mayor, 83, of East Sheen, south London, is in a serious condition in hospital and it thought to have suffered a broken pelvis after she was hit by the royals’ Special Escort Group of police riding motorbikes on Monday afternoon. Her sister Joyce Shore, 86, of Woking, Surry, said: “The police outriders have to slow down.

“My sister is lying in a hospital bed and she could have been killed. She could so easily have been killed.

“I do like the royals, but the way my sister’s life has been endangered is completely unacceptable. These outriders need to slow down.

“But it will still go on. I doubt anything will change just because a lady speaks out over concern for her sister.”

She is thought to have been taken to hospital by air ambulance in a serious condition, with her condition now said to be stable.

Mrs Mayor’s daughter Fiona, whom she lives with, said she suffered “lots” of injuries, with witnesses describing a chaotic scene swarming with police officers.
