New tumour-tracker drugs ‘on the NHS within months’

Known as “tumour agnostic” drugs, they could offer hope to patients with rare forms of the disease that may previously have been untreatable.

The treatments will be matched to patients’ tumours depending on their genes and molecular features, rather than bodily location, for the best chance of success.

At Confed19 in Manchester today, NHS England chief executive Simon Stevens will describe how the health service hopes to work with the pharmaceutical industry to bring the drugs to market as soon as possible.
