Alexander Armstrong, 49, and Richard Osman, 48, welcomed today’s contestants onto Pointless this afternoon, with all eight hoping to walk away with the huge £9,000 jackpot prize.
Friends Dee and Mel were among the hopeful quizzers who impressed hosts Alexander and Richard with several low scores that saw them reach the final round.
The pair did so well in fact they scooped the £9,000 winnings with a Pointless answer.
After seeing several teams miss out on the jackpot, hosts Richard and Alexander were thrilled to see Dee and Mel win.
Alexander said: “Congratulations if ever there was a time to find a pointless answer it’s now.”
Addressing Mel, who was heavily pregnant, Richard added: “Please please do not give birth!
“I’ve rarely seen a more well desired jackpot winners you’ve been brilliant round after round low answers in lots of different categories beautiful ending to a fantastic show very well played.”
While the hosts congratulated the pair, some viewers at home weren’t too impressed.
The contestants left many fans of the BBC quiz show distracted by their unusual way of celebrating their low scores.
Each time they scored low or went into the next round, the pair fist bump one another.
