Brexiteer Tim Montgomerie argued if the Tory leadership race ended with a shown between Boris Johnson and Michael Gove, a spectacle of "psychodrama" would follow. He noted Boris supporters would favour a final between him and Jeremy Hunt as it would be the safer option. Mr Montgomerie told the BBC: “I think Tory members want a real contest but they don’t want Conservatives knocking spots off each other.
“The voters want a bit of decorum and I think Rory Stewart went over the line a little bit."
The BBC host then raised his concerns surrounding Jeremy Hunt and the idea that in the finals you have got to have two Brexiteers no matter what because of the feelings of the Conservative members.
The host added that because of this, the final would probably boil down to Michael Gove and Boris Johnson rather than Jeremy Hunt.
