The capital has seen a surge in violent crime with 31 confirmed deaths from stabbings in London since the start of the year. London mayor Sadiq Khan has been criticised for his response, with violent crime increasing in both of his two full years as London Mayor so far. One audience member blamed politicians for the issues, beginning by asking the panel: “What’s wrong with you people?!”

With members of the panel saying politicians and teachers can also do so much with parents needing to help, the audience member also asked: "Do you know how many people cannot afford to send their children to an after-school club?

“Anyone’s who got an office job, yes, it’s fantastic to do your shopping at eight o’ clock, but the person who’s in that shop at eight o’clock has probably got children at home, there’s not enough supervision.”

In recent years, local authorities have increasingly moved homeless and vulnerable people into temporary accommodation outside of the local community, which was another thing the audience member was unhappy with saying: “You want to move them out of their borough were they live to Peterborough or by the sea, it’s a mess!”

This was met with loud applause from fellow audience members and even Labour MP and panellist Laura Pidcock.
