'Don't ask me!' #CelebrityGogglebox star Rachel Riley in embarrassing music fail

Rachel Riley, 33, is a firm fixture on the Channel 4 show Countdown, alongside co-stars Nick Hewer, 75, and Susie Dent, 54. During a recent broadcast, the host quizzed the blonde beauty on whether she’d ever encountered a musical talent, which later gained prominence. Nick discussed The Great Escape Festival which is held in Brighton and showcases over 400 new artists from all over the world across 35 venues. Speaking about the event, he said: “Fantastic, isn’t it? Sort of like a showcase for emerging talent,” before he quizzed Rachel saying: “What about you, did you ever spot a musical talent and that talent flowered into public recognition?”

Rachel replied: “No, I’m exactly the opposite. I’m last on the music front.

“I remember one year I heard this really cool indie song around Christmas, playing on Radio One. And then when I got to my friends Christmas party, I was like, ‘I’ve heard this cool new song, I’ll try and find it’."

She continued: “Turns out it was The Waitresses from the 1980s, made before I was born."

The humorous tale got a chuckle from Nick and the studio audience.

Rachel added: “So if you want new talent emerging that people do not know, don’t ask me.”
