Carol Vorderman thought she’d suffered an embarrassing gaffe which led to a cheeky offer from her BBC Radio Wales co-host Nathan Sussex this morning. The Countdown legend was talking about her turn on the celebrity version of The Crystal Maze - which aired last night - when the mishap happened. The 58-year-old was mid-sentence when she stopped to ask the actor if she had accidentally got pen on her face. It was then that he offered to “lick it off” and the pair broke into laughter.

“My favourite bit on Crystal Maze is when you get to the end and you have to collect all that gold and silver…” Nathan had started.
“… I’ll call it confetti. It looks great. Did you get to do that?”
Carol responded enthusiastically: “Yeah! Yeah! So we all got in and the boys got stuck in the… boxes, what are they called? In the tasks - you have to spend a crystal to get them out.”
Knowing what she meant, he responded: “In the rooms, yeah, yeah, of course you do.”
“And…” Carol went on to discuss but stopped in her tracks. “Have I just written biro on my face, because I think I’ve written…”
As she laughed at the embarrassing question, he confirmed: “No, you’re clean, you’re clean.”
