Maya Stepney (played by Louisa Clein) has been sent to prison for one year after grooming stepson Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) but this might not be the last viewers see of the sinister teacher in the next 12 months.
Despite Maya’s sentencing, Jacob is convinced the school teacher loves him and that those closest to him are the ones to blame for her prison time rather than her sickening behaviour.
Maya originally planned for the pair to flee the UK and start a new life abroad and this scenario may still play out within the next year.
During her time behind bars the disgraced teacher may find a way to escape and make her way back to the village to be with Jacob.
Jacob is convinced Maya has done nothing wrong and has vowed to wait for her prison sentence to be up so they can spend their lives together.
However if Maya breaks free will Jacob be prepared to risk everything to go on the run with an escaped convict?
Viewers have seen Maya’s dark side again and again so it is likely she would resort to kidnapping the schoolboy if necessary.
After Maya’s sentencing Emmerdale fans have been speculating whether this really is the last they will see of the manipulative teacher.
