Despite a clear instruction from the electorate the so-called mother-of-all-parliaments has blocked the will of the people at every turn. The people of Britain had demonstrated their disgust with the we-know-better-than-you arrogance of Brussels by voting to leave. But they had not bargained on the even deeper arrogance of Britain’s own politicians whose efforts to thwart the will of the people would shame a tin-pot dictatorship. Three years on from the tumultuous vote we’re still in the EU - and our MP’s seem impervious to shame.

Tim Martin, founder of pub chain Wetherspoons, has been in the front line of senior business names attacking Parliament for failing to deliver Brexit.

He told Express.co.uk: “We haven’t left yet because we had a prime minister that believed with religious intensity in Remain.

“She appointed a kitchen cabinet who also believed in Remain.”

But Mr Martin also criticises the Labour Party and the Lib Dems for not putting their weight behind leaving the EU.

And he said the public should write to their MPs and vote for the Brexit Party if they ever wanted to see Britain leave the Brussels bloc.

Brexit Party MEP Ann Widdecombe also said it was a “scandal” that Britain has not left the EU on time, and blamed the failure on the “sheer incompetence” of the outgoing prime minister, Theresa May.

Ms Widdecombe, who served as a Tory MP for 23 years, said Mrs May “completely mishandled the process” and went on to describe her as “incredibly weak” and a “really bad prime minister”.
