'Had to turn over!' #BeechamHouse viewers divided over John Beecham drama

BEECHAM HOUSE began on ITV this evening and follows Englishman John Beecham start his new life in Delhi but his arrival is shrouded in mystery as he arrives with a baby and no one knows who the mother is.

Tonight’s first instalment of Beecham House followed the arrival of John Beecham (played by Tom Bateman) in Delhi.

He certainly had the staff at his house talking as he arrived late at night with a young tot and a governess who many assumed was his mistress or mother of the baby.

John kept his cards close to his chest and viewers were only given small glimpses into his life as he insisted he was a private man.

But despite wanting to keep secrets, John quickly grew close to neighbour Margaret Osbourne (Dakota Blue Richards), even inviting her around for afternoon tea.

However, his peaceful life in Delhi did not last long when his mother Henrietta Beecham (Lesley Nicol) rocked up with Violet (Bessie Carter) who accompanied her to India.

Henrietta was clearly keen to set Violet up with John and wasn’t impressed to see him so close to Margaret.

But she was even more put out to discover there was a baby in the house and it was John’s.

Unsurprisingly Henrietta had a lot of questions and was determined to find out who the baby’s mother was and where she was.

John however was keen to keep that part of his life private and told his mother he
