The Met Office has put in place a yellow rain and thunderstorm warning for north and northeast Scotland in addition to a weather warning in Northern Ireland. The Met office also warned of a danger to life due to a month’s worth of rain falling on one day as the surge of heavy rain in England and Scotland will bring a chance of flooding. Torrential downpours will be dropping up to a month's rain in some places over a 60-hour period of wind, rain, lightning and hail according to the warning.
Met Office meteorologist Luke Miall said: “Some heavy rain around first thing this morning with the risk of some thunderstorms as well.
“It will be quite a warm and humid feel if you step out the door on Monday.
“There will be some persistent rain across eastern and central Scotland and that will give some tricky travelling conditions through the morning.
“There will be some thunderstorms likely across northern counties of England as well.
