The BBC Radio 5 Live challenged the Tory MP after he defended Boris Johnson's plans to revert to World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules in the event of a no deal Brexit. Mr Johnson suggested Britain could get a "10-year standstill" on current trade arrangements with the European Union while a new deal is being thrashed out thanks to Article 24 of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). Mr Kawczynski insisted the proposal is "not wrong" despite several experts – including the Brexiteer International Trade Secretary, Liam Fox – rebuking Mr Johnson's claim, prompting Ms Barnett to ask: "It’s a total misunderstanding of how we can leave on no deal.
