When They See Us on Netflix is based on the true crime story of the Central Park Five, but one of its cast members has had a brush with the law herself this year. Felicity Huffman, who plays prosecutor Linda Fairstein, was arrested earlier this year for mail fraud, which she pled guilty to in May 2019. Netflix viewers who have seen Huffman in When They See Us have been left wondering whether the actress filmed her role before or after her own arrest.

Felicity Huffman filmed her When They See Us role before she was arrested.

In a NY Post article titled “What will Netflix do about Felicity Huffman’s ‘When They See Us’ role?”, it was revealed that filming had wrapped on the series prior to the actress’ legal troubles.

Filming began on the series in August 2018 and editing on the series had started by December, suggesting that filming had wrapped by then.

Huffman, meanwhile, was arrested in March 2019 as part of a college bribery scandal.

According to TMZ, the star was arrested around 6am PDT on March 12.

She was then released after posting bail later that day, sometime before 8pm.

In May, the Desperate Housewives and When They See Us star pled guilty for mail fraud.
