Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are to see their son christened in July and news of the event sparked speculation about who the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will pick to serve as godparents to their first child. With in-laws Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge excluded due to tradition – brothers and close family members tend to be snubbed for the role in the Royal Family – Harry's biographer Angela Levin suggested the couple could select two figures close to the prince. Speaking to Yahoo's the Royal Box, Ms Levin said: "I think there are two people who were in Harry’s life who saved him when his mother died or when his parents divorced.

"One is Tiggy and the other is Mark Dyer, who took over as a sort of male nanny – a grown-up, male nanny.

"When Diana died, he took him to South Africa where Harry then fell in love with the continent."

Tiggy Legge-Bourke joined the royal household in 1993 and worked as nanny to both Prince Harry and Prince William until 1999, two years after the passing of their mother Diana. 

Ms Legge-Bourke was at Balmoral with the young princes when the Princess of Wales tragically died in a car crash in the Alma Tunnel in Paris.
